It is with the greatest sympathy and regret that I inform you all of the passing of our club Patron Brian Trembath.
Brian Trembath - Life Member 1961
Originally from Auckland but schooled in New Plymouth, Brian arrived in 1948 and soon found a place in the Senior XV as an inside back, normally at first five. Within a year he had taken a place on the management committee where he did many good things over a 22-year period. He had spells as Secretary, Chairman and Club President, while in later year as Patron. In his spare time, so to speak, Brian represented the club on the Union Committee for 14 years and was so well thought of that he, in time become one of Auckland's representatives in the corridors of Rugby power in Wellington. His work on Auckland's behalf was marked by the same type of effort and results as the hours he put into College Rifles. Brian spent many hours at carnivals, where he made something of a name on the raffle stand. Brian was another of the main figures on the Centennial Committee, he would head down to the grounds on a weekly basis to help with the ground maintenance. In his later year Brian never missed the AMG, he contributed with a real concern for the club and it future.
It is not how long a man lives, but how deep his life is. In our pain and sorrow remember he was a great Rifleman.
